Vashon Island Sustainable Modern Farmhouse.

The Galerani Residence is a striking modern farmhouse on secluded  island in Washington State. The design goal was to create a sustainable modern farm house.  Only accessible by ferry, this home was designed under the guiding principles of sustainability aimed at protecting the environment. A prominent feature is the creatively repurposed silo that now serves as the dining room, exemplifying the house's commitment to ecological preservation.

Our Vision: Shaping Tomorrow's Spaces

This residence boasts R-38 insulated walls and ceilings and incorporates panelized and prefabricated systems in its construction. These methods have proven to be significantly beneficial for the environment and costs when compared to traditional stick framing, achieving a 40% reduction in labor hours, 55% less lumber waste, and 60% less sheeting waste.

In addition, the residence features an advanced water management system where water collected from impervious surfaces is filtered through a bioswale before being redirected to an infiltration trench. This effectively diminishes the runoff impact on the nearby Puget Sound.

The building also includes an insulated concrete slab floor heated by a highly efficient 98% electric boiler, which is further enhanced by beautiful hardwood and tile accents.
